Now Accepting New clients

A Place to Be Heard, Heal and Grow.  Your Story Matters.

David operates a private practice in counselling psychology in Okotoks, Alberta. He is one of the only male registered psychologists offering therapy in the Okotoks and Foothills area. David provides individual therapy for a range of common mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, stress, relationship struggles, teen/parent conflict, and grief and loss. He offers in-person therapy sessions at his office in Okotoks, as well as virtual sessions for individuals across Alberta.

David works with clients aged 12 and up, including both teenagers and adults who seek relief from distress and a better quality of life. He understands that therapy is a process of change that can be challenging, but ultimately rewarding.

David has advanced training in EMDR therapy for the treatment of trauma and uses cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) as a primary approach for treating anxiety and depression.

  Individual Therapy for Adults

"I'm tired of doing the same thing.  I want to feel better again."

  • Are you struggling with your mood?  Having difficulty with relationships?  Dealing with overwhelming stress, anger, guilt/shame or past trauma?  David has the experience to help.

  • Adult mental health support for mood disorders, difficulty with family or social relationships, finding purpose/meaning, helping move through grief and loss.

  • If you're not sure where to start in therapy... that is okay and often expected.  David works from a CBT perspective that can help you determine where to begin.

  • You are unique and your therapy should be as well; no cookie-cutter therapy approaches.  David's modalities include CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy and EMDR therapy but none of these theories are forced.

  • Strength-based approach.  Yes, you have strengths!

  • Evidence-based approach.  Psychological theories and applications are grounded in empirical research.

  • Adults, including working professionals, are more comfortable pursuing therapy today than at any other time in history.

  Individual Therapy for Teens

"You don't understand me.  I don't need to be fixed."

  • Does your teen struggle with peer issues, academic performance, family conflict, transition to adulthood, stress, anxiety, or depression?  David can help.

  • Teens often request a male therapist for support.

  • Building a therapeutic relationship is a key to successful counselling.  David seeks to establish a respectful relationship that prioritizes confidentiality. Good therapy begins general and becomes more specific as the therapy progresses.  Both teen and parent goals for therapy will be explored.

  • Therapy is not mandated for teens who are not ready.  However, you may speak with David about an approach to help reluctant teens make decisions about therapy.

  • David will keep you informed about your teen's progress, high-risk situations, and other issues of concern that your teen may like to share.
